Step 6 of 7 — Policies & Acknowledgment
1. Cancellations & Fees
Cancellations within less than 5 hours of scheduled time: 50% of fee charged. No-show or refusal to sign: full fee. Wait time: 15-min grace period, then $15 + $1/min. Re-draws due to lender error billed at signing rate.
2. Identification
In most cases, signers must present a valid non-expired passport, driver’s license, government-issued ID card, or other government-issued ID containing a signature and photograph. If unavailable, verification by oath of a credible witness personally appearing before the notary is an acceptable alternative.
3. Signatures
If physically unable to sign, you may direct another person (not the notary) to sign your name by proxy. This requires two additional witness signatures. Some signings require signature under oath witnessed by the notary; others only require notary verification. When in doubt, contact us before signing.
4. Powers of Attorney (POA)
If using a POA, it must be recorded at least 24 hours prior to use. The notary must see the POA for the signing to be valid.
5. Right to Refuse
The notary may refuse service if: (1) the person lacks the capacity to execute the record; (2) the signature does not appear knowingly and voluntarily made; or (3) for other lawful reasons, unless prohibited by law.
